The annual Memorial Day ceremony will take place in Solana Beach on May 27
The City of Solana Beach and Solana Beach Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5431 will hold their annual Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 27, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., in the Veterans Court of Honor at La Colonia Park , located at 715 Valley Avenue. . All are invited to attend the tribute event.
The ceremony will feature young Marines from Camp Pendleton and. Al Gonzales will deliver thought-provoking thoughts on the importance of remembering and honoring the country’s fallen heroes, the city’s website says.
Solana Beach Mayor Lesa Heebner and VFW Post 5431 Commander Julian Gonzales will speak at the event, and the Santa Fe Christian School Band will play patriotic tunes. The “Feathers of Heaven” dove release, orchestrated by Joe and Leslie Irwin, will symbolize peace and the eternal memory of the country’s fallen heroes.
Guides from the Civic and Historical Society will lead tours of the historic museum, providing insight into the community’s rich history.
Light refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to the public.
