Aptos, a layer 1 blockchain platform developed by former Facebook employees, has set a new record for blockchain transactions.
On May 25, Aptos surpassed Solana by recording an incredible 115.4 million transactions in a single day, far surpassing Solana’s 31.7 million. according to Aptoscan.
The increase in trading volume not only shattered previous records but also surpassed the L1 record of over 65 million held by Sui Network by an impressive margin of over 50%.
The exponential growth in transactional activity on Aptos highlights the growing adoption of the platform and overall industry dynamics.
According to Aptoscan data, TPS (transactions per second) of blockchain users reached a record high of 32,000 on the same day.
This signifies a significant increase in activity within the blockchain ecosystem, demonstrating the scalability and robustness of the platform.
The recent increase in transactional activity on Aptos can be attributed to the launch of Tapos Cat, an innovative play-to-earn game that has quickly gained popularity.
In its first day on mainnet, Tapos Cat processed an impressive 10 million transactions, contributing substantially to the increase in activity on the platform.
Tapos Cat offers users the opportunity to earn $HEART tokens by “tickling” a virtual cat, thereby encouraging multiple in-game transactions.
Additionally, the game offers a no gas fee experience for the first 72 hours, enticing players to commit without incurring additional costs.
Crypto Veterans Question Long-Term Viability of Tapos Cat
Critics, including the CEO of Helius Labs, have raised questions about the long-term viability and practical usefulness of Tapos Cat.
They argue that the game’s emphasis on “click and buy” interactions may artificially inflate statistics without truly meeting user needs.
I watched this
it’s from a game where you earn a shitcoin by quickly clicking on a screen
clicks are counted as time
we will literally do anything for gaming metrics in this industry rather than build anything with real users or demand lmao https://t.co/k2e9Z62xuO pic.twitter.com/9fbq1AA9Dl

However, Aptos supporters say Tapos Cat constitutes a crucial engineering project, demonstrating the scalability and robustness of the Aptos network while paving the way for future developments.
Additionally, the Aptos Labs team recently introduced a group of global advisors, including David Lawee, former vice president of corporate development at Google.
Additionally, Aptos Labs collaborated with Atomrigs Lab to announce plans to launch T wallet, a Web3 wallet service, in partnership with South Korea. telecommunications operator SK Telecom (SKT).
Solana among the fastest blockchains
Solana has turned out to be the fastest among the major blockchains, processing a staggering 91 million transactions in a single day.
On April 6, Solana hit a record daily average of 1,504 transactions per second (TPS) during the memecoin frenzy.
This makes the blockchain 46 times faster than Ethereum and over 5x faster than Polygon, which has the highest TPS among Ethereum scaling solutions.
Despite being the fastest blockchain, Solana only reached 1.6% of its theoretical maximum speed of 65,000 TPS.
It is worth noting that Ethereum scaling solutions and layer 2 solutions have not yet surpassed other layer 1 blockchains in terms of actual processing speed.
This can be attributed to the lower number of on-chain transactions on Ethereum scaling solutions, resulting in slower TPS for these blockchains.
