According to Helio, the current number of unique active wallets stands at over 350,000, with over 5,000 traders.

THE update The Solana Pay plugin is therefore a development that could enable millions of Shopify merchants to easily accept crypto payments on hundreds of crypto assets.

With the upgrade, Shopify merchants using the Solana Pay plugin can now accept crypto, leveraging real-time conversion and settlement via stablecoins. These include USDC and EURC from Circle and PYUSD from PayPal. The plugin also supports the USDY tokenized note from Ondo Finance.

Solana Pay also integrates with top wallets like Phantom, Solfire, Coinbase, and OKX.

Helio believes the update has the ability to help “onboard millions of merchants to crypto commerce,” completely transforming e-commerce payments.

Improving user experience and strengthening customer loyalty programs is a crucial aspect of this growth. Solana presents itself as the ideal blockchain network for this trajectory.

“Cryptocurrency holders represent a rapidly growing global consumer segment, with over 100 million active wallets. Solana, with its low fees and fast transactions, is ideal for consumer payments,” said Stijn Paumen, co-founder and CEO of Helio. “

“Shopify merchants can now easily reach this audience by installing Solana Pay with just a few simple clicks to accept USDC and hundreds of other digital assets at low fees. Enabling the largest e-commerce platform to accept crypto payments faster than card payments is an important step towards mass adoption of crypto payments,” Paumen added.

Merchants Exploit Low-Cost Crypto Payments

Adoption of the plugin has increased amid the growth of the Web3 payments industry, particularly in the stablecoin market. Now, new interest could increase with the update enabling advanced features such as NFTs, loyalty programs, receipts and tickets.

Solana Pay, which allows Shopify merchants to accept low-cost crypto payments (0.75% fee), saw nearly $50 million in transactions in its previous version.

According to Helio, the transactions affected 200 stores, saving merchants more than $1 million in fees.

Brands already using the new Solana Pay plugin include Helium Mobile and FSL (STEPN GO, MOOAR).
